About
Ashley Kirby is a fifth-year Mechanical Engineering student attending the University of Cincinnati. She is the President and Co-Founder of UC's Chapter of the Association for Women of Color in Engineering (AWOCE; pronounced "awoke") and Membership Chair (and President Emeritus) of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Ashley enjoys expressing her creativity by embracing her natural beauty. She tends to do her natural hair a lot and hopes to create her own hair product line. She enjoys studying innovation and loves to problem-solve.
The habits she had as a child were sparked by her curiosity about how things function. These interests led her to Engineering. Her goal is to inspire others while creating a better reality for everyone. She believes it is important for all to love one another and work together to make the world a better and happier place.
She hopes to travel the world to experience different cultures to explore how they can assist her vision.
Ashley spends her free time watching various YouTube Videos, pondering all the possibilities of hairstyling, and spending time with her friends and family. She plans to graduate college with her bachelor’s degree in April of 2023 and plans to pursue a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering while working a full-time job. She hopes to gain experience teaching young students about engineering, math, and science in the future. Ashley hopes to be multilingual by age 35, speaking English, Spanish, Italian, and American Sign Language.
